Microsoft Specialists
Sunpay are Microsoft partners and have a close working relationship with Microsoft.
As partners, we receive a number of benefits including training, technical assistance, access to new technologies
and a whole swag of other benefits.
In the early days of Sunpay, a strategic decision was made to align with Microsoft
as this was the technology that was most familiar and we were very excited about the .NET development
platform and the plans that Microsoft had to develop the SQL database. Another reason we specialised in
Microsoft technologies was that we did not want to spread our resources too thinly.
We are extremely pleased with that decision. However, we do still use non-Microsoft technologies
and would still recommend them if the situation arose. In addition, Sunpay have considerable experience in
migrating non-Microsoft applications and databases to a Microsoft based platform.
A summary of some of the products and tools (mostly Microsoft) that Sunpay use are as follows:
- Operating systems: 2000, XP, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2003, Server 2008, Unix
- Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, etc. This includes automating these applications
and developing add-ons
- Microsoft SQL Server: All versions of SQL and all components such as DTS, SSRS, SSIS and SSAS
- Other databases: Oracle, DB2, Sybase, and others
- Sharepoint
- Programming languages: C#, VB.NET, C++, Access, Java, JavaScript, VB, Visual Studio
- Development tools: SourceSafe, TeamSystems
- Virtualization: VMWare, V-Centre
